The ultimate navigation tool for Internet Explorer (IE). IE Flower is a small yet very powerful tool which allows you to navigate faster on the Internet using either a mouse or a touchpad. Have you ever been frustrated to always have to move your cursor to the tool bar to perform a simple Previous page? With IE Flower, a double-click with the left mouse button (or a double-click on the touchpad) is enough. The number of functions was increased in redefining the right button as a Shift "like" button. For example, holding the right mouse button while rotating the wheel performs an horizontal scrolling. A new scrolling mode was also added. Hold the left button down and move the mouse horizontally or vertically for a fine scroll. The Flower appears when holding the left button pressed for some time. Most functions are the same as the mouse buttons. It is particularly efficient while working on a laptop computer using the touchpad. Obviously, you will need to practice this new way to use the mouse. But once mastered, you won't step back...

Smooth Navigation
The upcoming release will have a couple of nice visual enhancements for map navigation. The first is a map-pan to method which uses easing methods to slide the map to a new center. The second is layer transitions, which (in their current form) resize existing tiles while waiting for new tiles to load - giving users something to look at while new data comes down. Future layer transitions will include animated zooming with the same sort of easing methods as the smooth panning.
Both enhancements can be seen in the transition example. Smooth panning is enabled by default, use the pan buttons to see the map ease to a new location. The map pan Method options lets you control the type of easing (or turn it off).
The layer transitions are controlled on a layer by layer basis. Open the layer switcher on the above example to see the “resize” transition for single-tile and multi-tile layers (zoom and pan to see the effect).

Double navigation

There was hardly a man of any standing who didn’t interest himself in some way in navigation.
S. O. Jewett. The Country of the Pointed Firs
Any objections against all websites having a smart and understandable address are highly unlikely. The user normally backspaces part of the address to the nearest slash and expects to get a level up from where he is.
To make this passage simpler, one may use double navigation, i.e. a bar with links reflecting the structural hierarchy of the website.
Looking at addresses in the browser address line, the user can never figure out his whereabouts. Therefore the double navigation has in fact become primary.
A website should be fine in all its particulars, which also means both an intelligible URL and a good double navigation fit to substitute the major one.
If the user doesn’t want to push the “Back” button (for example, after roaming for too long within one directory), he’ll probably be better off to choose an item of the double navigation. In the meantime, the double address line will still manifest the coherence and predictability of the site structure.
Hence the rule: double navigation should be brought into play every time you deal with some logically enclosed content entities, e.g. at news sites, exhibitions, catalogs, online shops etc.

Most modern navigation relies primarily on positions determined electronically by receivers collecting information from satellites. Most other modern techniques rely on crossing lines of position or LOP. A line of position can refer to two different things: a line on a chart and a line between the observer and an object in real life. A bearing is a measure of the direction to an object. If the navigator measures the direction in real life, the angle can then be drawn on a nautical chart and the navigator will be on that line on the chart.

Most other modern techniques rely on crossing lines of position or LOP.A line of position can refer to two different things: a line on a chart and a line between the observer and an object in real life. A bearing is a measure of the direction to an object. If the navigator measures the direction in real life, the angle can then be drawn on a nautical chart and the navigator will be on that line on the chart. In addition to bearings, navigators also often measure distances to objects. On the chart, a distance produces a circle or arc of position. Circles, arcs, and hyperbolae of positions are often referred to as lines of position.
If the navigator draws two lines of position, and they intersect he must be at that position.A fix is the intersection of two or more LOPs.
If only one line of position is available, this may be evaluated against the dead reckoning position to establish an estimated position.
Lines (or circles) of position can be derived from a variety of sources:
celestial observation (a short segment of the circle of equal altitude, but generally represented as a line),
terrestrial range (natural or man made) when two charted points are observed to be in line with each other,
compass bearing to a charted object,
radar range to a charted object,
on certain coastlines, a depth sounding from echo sounder or hand lead line.
There are some methods seldom used today such as "dipping a light" to calculate the geographic range from observer to lighthouse
Methods of navigation have changed through history. Each new method has enhanced the mariner’s ability to complete his voyage. One of the most important judgments the navigator must make is the best method to use. Some types of navigation are depicted in the table.
